6000 cd radio very quiet

Hi there I have a 2003 mondeo, the batt went flat the other day (not the first time) since charging the radio comes to life as it should turns on tunes stations etc however now when I turn the volume up to 30 you need your ear right next to the speaker to hear anything, i have a radio code on the radio which has unlocked it previously and all worked fine. Has anyone managed to fix this problem? Any advice greatly appreciated.
