I have a Ford Fiesta, the radio is a Ford 6000 serial number V039924.

Your help is much appreciated as I can't face a lengthy journey with two kids and no music

FORD V SERIAL NUMBER CODES

If your radio has the Ford V Serial Number then it will not normally be available for free as access is required to the Ford factory database (unless you can blag it for free from Ford)
