focus 6000 cd radio problems

hiya folks, 2002 focus hatch with a 2007 radio unit fitted ( M296721 ). Radio can receive channels for about 10 mins after switching on then loses reception. The ariel plug is secure at the rear of the unit and a new ariel `twig `fitted. Any ideas please?. Cheers, Pete
