obtaining serial number for ford cd players

Hi guys, got 7 mondeos at present and every one try the 1 and 6 procedure to get serial number for them didn't work, or should I say didnt provide correct numbers, is there another way or another procedure without removing headunit? Have ordered a extraction kit but they 26quid plus vat for a sealey multi car kit, surely it would work on at least 1 car? Oldest 03 newest 07 so?? Oh n many thanks to redrooster for replying n soon as get serial number ill msg back

No...not really

Sometimes pressing buttons 6 & 1 together or 6 & 2 will display this number

Otherwise remove the radio from the dashboard and post the SERIAL NUMBER found on a label on the casing
